Approval from EASA 2011-01-12Flight Design is proud to announce the successful finalization of obtaining EASA Design Organization Approval. On December 16th 2010, the company could successfully pass the final checkpoint, and subsequently receive the Approval Certificate. The Approval is given for Flight Design GmbH, covering also the involved departments located in the production set-up in Ukraine and the flight test activities in Kamenz. The approval entitles Flight Design to conduct Type Certification of Aircraft with EASA for non-complex aircraft up to 1.200 kg MTOW. Flight Design may now conduct the type investigation for a new aircraft certification in a way, that EASA can accept the compliance finding without further checking, due to the approval. Flight Design is also approved to classify changes for major and minor, and to approve minor changes without direct EASA involvement. |

Fighting Fires in Ecuador with the Flight Design CTLS 2011-01-10Bomberos de Cuenca, ECUADOR / 28 December 2010 — A fire fighting department located at 8,300 feet above sea level in the Ecuadorian Andes has acquired a Flight Design Light-Sport Aircraft as its aerial support unit. With support from John Hurst and Jeremy Endsley of Sebring Aviation, the Basin Fire Department began operations at the Mariscal La Mar airport. Hurst and Endsley, representing the Southeastern USA distribution of the best-selling brand, traveled to Ecuador to train fire department employees in assembly, maintenance, and flight training of the CTLS. The group operating the LSA is called the Air Volunteer Fire Department of Basin. |
